@Glenn – VPN won’t work, Steam’s game/content is based on the region of your credit card or PayPal registered address. Not sure of other payment methods.

You CAN however have someone from the US gift you the game. Worked for censored versions of Half-Life 2 to Germany, worked for Manhunt , Necrovision and Witcher to Australia – you just need to know someone in America thats willing to gift you a game.

I mean come on, there’s removing a feature or two but removing half of the game is ridiculous.

You might try use a VPN to fool Steam into thinking that you are from a different country, then go ahead and order the uncut version of L4D2. However, you might run into a few problems with your order details. And you are breaking Steam’s Terms of Service.

The best solution is to get yourself an Xbox 360, and since it is region-free, you can import the 360 version from another country.

Been a huge fan of L4D and was thrilled to see L4D2 was coming but now i am unsure if i will ever get to play it as i wont play a watered down version and have read that even if you import the uncut version the updates on steam will kno where u are in the world and when there is an update it might revert to the edited oz release. not sure if this is true but it stinks. im 32 i can do everything an adult male can do in the civilised western world except play games that are designed for me I FEEL LIKE SUCH A CHILD

ARG… T.T Left 4 Dead (The original) HAS depictions of decapitations (from gun fires and when their limbs fly off) AND piles of bodies just lying around levels… The added Cutting off the limbs of zombies, wounded details and a bit more blood… T.T Honestly,There are FAR worse games then this… Loosen up Guys… Let us Australian gamers have our fun, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE AVERAGE AGE OF AN AUSTRALIAN GAMER IS 29 (or was it 30?)

Lets hope, they allow the sequel… as it WILL be a big hit… ^.^ Looking forward to playing as ‘The Spitter’ no matter the outcome

Exactly Glenn, $80 for a game that is missing half the features it was meant to have, are going to be missing.

They should at least have the common decency to reduce the price if they’re gonna’ us a game that has half of it’s outlining features removed…

Yeah… these changes would be enough for anyone to import the game or resort to illegal measures. It is breaking the law, but that is what the government makes us do.

Besides, I am not prepared to pay almost $100 for a crippled version.

Don’t forget Fallout 3. Just last night, I bought some food off a nice shop lady. I wanted my money back, so I shot her head off with my trusty shotgun. Watched it bounce onto the front counter before rolling onto the floor. Her body happened to fall on a book I wanted, so I continued to shoot off her hands, arms, feet and legs so I could get to the book.

Got my food, kept my money and everything else she had for sale, and got the book from under her body too. She had a kid walking around town somewhere too. Thankfully no-one else saw me, else I’d have had to take out the entire settlement.

I’m glad that kind of behaviour is suitable for a 15+ rating.
