John Rau and the R18+ issue
When Michael Atkinson stepped down from his position as South Australian attorney-general, his replacement, John Rau, previously told Gamers4Croydon of his support for R18+ games. However, he tells GameSpot that he intends to listen to both sides of the argument before making an official decision.
“I have no preconceptions about this issue and intend to listen to the arguments. I can neither support nor wisely argue against a position if I am not aware of the relevant factors.
“It is worth noting that ultimately, the decision does not rest with me alone. Any change would require the support of each jurisdiction’s attorney-general.”
Although Rau’s decision doesn’t look promising when it comes to introducing an R18+ games rating, it is much better than Atkinson’s constant rejection of an overhaul of the classification system, as well as his refusal to thoroughly research the issue.

If he actually listens to all arguments then he’ll agree with us. Especially if he assimilates evidence, assimilation of evidence is where we pull WAY ahead. If he doesn’t assimilate evidence and takes emotive arguments seriously then we have a problem.

Its bad enough that were the only country in the world to have no R rating for computer games, we have ratings for everything else. Why should we have to suffer cause some mother is desperately worried about her child’s mental anguish?

Grow up Australia
Why an adult rating should be allowed in Australia
adults are increasingly consumers of computer games now and its time to get with the times now I got a copy of left for dead 2 to and to be honest the game it far from good cause of our laws for instance lighting a zombie on fire and having no flames at all and the zombie just jumping up in the air its plan stupid so many other countries in the world have this R 18 games classification For a reason so Adult like myself can enjoy these type of games.

I have been playing games since a boy and i am now 29. I am sick to death of my rights as a consumer and as a tax paying adult by not being able to by an uncensored game, most of us just import the game from either NZ, UK or USA that has a 18+ rating. Is it not up to us to make our own judgement on what we watch or play in a video game, is it not up to the parents or guardians to watch whatn their kids play. Some games are being given a ma15+ or less rating in aus uncensored as well so this is not good in letting parents know the true content in a game as well. Bloody stop pissing around the aus government and pass the 18+ rating so we are in line with the rest of the world. It makes me feel like our great nation is backward or 3rd world when we are not.
