According to Games.On.Net, Capcom’s game, Dead Rising 2, is an upcoming, violent zombie shooter which has questionable content. It has been rated MA15+ by the Classification Board. Not many people expected DR2 to get past the Board as the game “encourages players to combine household items into ridiculous killing machines (like double ended paddle saws).”

Ironically, this is the same type of content that saw Left 4 Dead 2 get banned in Australia. Were an R18+ rating for games had been introduced years ago, the censors would make sure that the game was restricted to adults. DR2 is rated 18 in the UK and Europe, and will be released in September.

   Dead Rising 2 is not an R18+ game

   It is no where near as frequent and relentlessly violent as Left 4 Dead 2. Also, the gore was extremely detailed in Left 4 Dead 2 helped by it’s first person nature.

   The gore is no where as detailed in DR2 from the gameplay videos I’ve seen as well as playing the first one and the more comedic elements along with a third person perspective and a narrative structure makes the impact strong, not high.

   Even if an R18+ existed, Dead rising 2 would of still gotten an MA15+ just like the first one, especially with all these zombie films only getting a MA15+. I see no double standards here.

   The Risen ban is what I would call there being double standards considering it only had implied sex and drugs with fantasy names with there being much worst games with this content only being rated M (Fable series, Fallout 1 & 2, gothic series) or MA15+ (Fallout 3, Saints Row series, GTA series). Hell it even got only a 12+ in germany with alot of the other games I mentioned being either banned or rated 18+

   Though I am still angry about left 4 Dead 2 being RC that is what one would call an R18+ game and the reason why we need the R18+.

   Left fir dead 2 was heavily censored because the “zombies” were not zombies but infected people. So going thru that loop hole they destroyed the game.
   However if their already dead u can do what you please with them.
