Channel Seven slams R18+ rating
In a one-sided piece televised on the Channel Seven news, NSW Attorney-General Greg Smith states that he wants to see games with extreme violence Refused Classification.
After the story aired, a representative from the AG’s office confirmed this to Kotaku Australia.
“The AG doesn’t want any dilution of the Refused Classification category for games, but remains fully committed to an R18+ rating for video games, [...] the point is that he wants games with extreme gratuitous violence or gratuitous sexual violence to remain in the Refused Classification category.”
Seven News has used Grand Theft Auto IV as an example. In regards to his comments regarding the game, the representative stated that it was “just his reaction after watching the game”, and that he has no plans to change the game’s rating to RC.

Yeah that’s right, when they want to boost their ratings trust Channel 7 news to stir up some more shit. Yeah let’s dog on Grand Theft Auto because all the other violent games like Mortal Kombat 9 are pale in comparison, right Mr AG Greg Smith. Games that are currently baned will stay banned. games that are currently MA, will likely become R18. They are just oding this to give us a new catagory of R18 but we wont be on level peggings with the rest of the world.

The government can’t do shit, customs only perform an xray on an entire container of imports, they will not individually search for illegal import games. This whole thing is an obviously Psychiatric based problem. He had problems. I’ve played that many violent games and the last thing I’d ever do is fire a gun at someone. In fact I feel bad for even lying to someone. I love violent games and it’s not for the violence. It’s just the interactivity. The violence is there to Ice the Cake and for us who enjoy a good violent game is pretty much the same thing enjoying a violent movie.
I understand that the game is interactive and people interact on it but who cares? I play a game called CrimeCraft. It’s about Crime and Killing and Violence and everything. It’s a fun game but I’m never going to do any of it. It’s just a story. It’s interesting. It’s gritty.
There are some messed up people on this planet. These people will get bad ideas from TV, games, friends, reading, thinking, depression and etc..
People will act on these ideas if they are already mentally unstable. If children are doing stupid things it’s monkey see, monkey do? Oh wait you bunch of fuck wits. There is a parent monkey doing slaps. Learn that there needs to be responsibility taken from SOMEONE.
Stop fucking blaming video games. To add to this… It’s typical of Christians to think that everything is the devil and it’s Typical of Channel 7 to throw down a card like that.

Left 4 Dead 2 had to be censored to be allowed to sell in Australia. The stuff that was censored is not so bad that it needed to be RCed.

I have seen more then 5-10 times the amount of people saying “SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND” and imitating Scarface, then i have ever seen people with violent video games.
if they are going to ban violent games, they should just ban everything violent or wrong, the ACL will love it.
