Syndicate Refused Classification
According to Kotaku Australia, the Classification Board has just slapped the Syndicate reboot with an RC rating.
games.on.net has managed to get a hold of the Classification Board’s report explaining why the game had to be banned. Matt Williams, the author of the article, has named two games that already feature the type of violence the report covers.
It is not clear what EA Games will do following this decision. They have three options on their hands. They can release the game in Australia, in a modified form; appeal to have the rating lowered to MA15+; or just refuse to sell the game in Australia.

Yet another unfortunate victim of our bullshit censorship laws.
Granted EA could appeal and it might get through (Highly unlikely though) but again it shows just how broken the system is (Unless your a member of the ACL in which case it isn’t broken and never has been ignorant idiots) I could go on about all the other games that have gotten through without a problem but I’ll just name a few.
Modern Warfare 2 & 3
Fallout 3
Saints Row series & GTA series
Dead Rising 1 & 2
Gears Of War series
Those games alone are just as bad for example in Saints Row and Grand Theft Auto you can go around killing cops and in Gears Of War you can chainsaw humans in half these games get through and yet Syndicate and obviously Mortal Kombat don’t.
I’ve said all along that I don’t trust the goverment but seriously some of the decisions they make just don’t make any sense.
What does everyone else think about this?
Wait don’t answer that because I already know what every adult gamer will be thinking once they find out about this.

Everytime I read about a game being banned or censored in Aus, I lose more and more hope that R18 will ever come to pass and that the Classification Board is full of unqualified, inconsistent and stupid people.
When will the board stop pretending that violent games make people violent? I guess not anytime within the next 5 years. To hell with this stupid system.

Another one going on the list then.

@Troy,
Don’t worry about it man, just keep importing when all else fails but use precaution when doing it, I suggest not importing when the game is released cause this will draw attention to customs, when the hype dies down then import.
They will get the message if they haven’t already. The game retailers are suffering heavy losses as it is. (WHOOPS, there goes our fucking economy). There’s already talk about thousands of job losses in this country and they can only blame themselves for this disaster. When will they learn? Answer, NEVER.

LOL that is exactly what I did with Mortal Kombat and Left For Dead 2 and they both arrived about a week or so ago because it is like I said I was hesitant before about importing but not anymore.
